Gas industry of those days in Japan

Rebuilding of gas industry
The War of the Pacific ended. But many citizens were in a state of lethargy in front of burnt ruins. War also left serious damage to gas company across the country. Customers decreased from 2470000 to 930000. In Tokyo and Osaka, gas leaked anywhere of burned out site. Sometimes, more than half of provided gas leaked on way to home. The war did great damage to gas supply system which worth 270,000,000 yen at that time.
Under these situations, gas restoration work was begun by gas control associations. Restoration work started with stopping gas leak by repairing damaged pipe by bombing.
Under miserable situations which are shortage of food and materials, restoration work was very tough. And everybody was blackened in debris.

Oil gas system started operation for the first time in Japan
The reconstruction of war damage went well. Also special procurement by Korean War made demand of city gas expand all of sudden in the latter of 1940.
So, gas industry had to renew aging equipment and think new capital investment.
In connection with this matter, there was a great development of gas making system in history of Japan industry. It was a development of 'generation system of oil gas' in Senjuu factory, Tokyo.
We can say this development was technical innovation and ancestral to energy revolution which switches from traditional solid fuel to liquid fuel.
